PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
