Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
